Went with friends to the Elroy-Sparta trail today, Saturday--a true asset to the state. It is inexpensive, beautiful, and healthy for you. Transforming rail beds to bike trails is ingenious. New life for the region; new wealth in the form of tourists.
What can you do that is healthy, wholesome and local? How will you get a nice trip and positive activity without spending all day on the road or your savings for gas? Camp grounds, restaurants, shops of every stripe benefit from biking enthusiasts. You don't have to be Ozzie and Harriet to see the potential for family-centered activities here.
A lesson for all of us. The sooner we act together to join hands and link up trails through the heart of the state, the sooner we benefit from the increased health-centered tourism. Sound optimistic? Think again. As the man said, we have "acres of diamonds" in our own back yard.
